Installing a new version
is really simple: unzip the downloaded files, the setup program (*.exe)
is given. Close all AutoCAD sessions and run the setup program.
You only need to define the LT-Extender's program path (simply install
the new
version ontop of your existing version). When overwriting existing
LT-Extender, all user data are untouched !
There is a simple principle: DEMO remains DEMO, LICENCE remains LICENCE.
You can't make anything wrong ...
Because LT Extender does
not save any data into the autocad files there are no problems with
compatibility. Only some features of LT Extender can be changed or new
in later versions.
The Online-Help (LT-Extender*.chm)
is also available from LT-Extender's start menu program group - and
should also open from there - chm helpfiles are directly displayed by
Windows. If you see an error message, so Window® is not able to open the
helpfile. Only Windows® 98 and Windows® 2000 (or newer) are able to open
CHM-helpfiles. Additionally, when installing Microsoft® IE 4.01 (or
higher) the CHM-helpfile-viewer is installed or updated.
If you can not open the chm-helpfile "LT-Extender*.chm" you may do these
solutions:
Install the "Update for Windows CHM-Help-System" at our download
area
(recommended !)
or
Install the Microsoft® Internet-Explorer 4.01 or higher (recommended:
5.0/5.5/6)
Currently, LT-Extender
supports ExpressTools Vol.1-8 from AutoCAD 2000 and ExpressTools Vol.1-9
(since AutoCAD 2000i) without major problems;.
If ExpressTools are present (Support path !), LT-Extender will
automatically load and activate them.
ARX files from AutoCAD 14
can not be used with AutoCAD/LT 2000 and higher; ARX files from AutoCAD
2000-2002 can not be used with AutoCAD/LT 2004. This is caused by
technical details of API (Application Programming Interface)
implementation..
ARX files usable : with LT 2000-2002 only ARX files designed for AutoCAD 2000-2002
can be used with LT 2004 only ARX files designed for AutoCAD 2004 can be used
At this time, there is no
chance for LT-Extender to load VisualLisp-specific files (*.fas/*.vlx) –
but VisualLisp functions may be used (even in *.lsp files)
without problems !.You may expect, that future versions of LT-Extender
will offer more support for VisualLisp program files
Ads/Arx/AutoLisp applications using special
programming interfaces like those of MAP, ADT, LDDT etc. will not work
or will not work properly, because these interfaces are not available
under AutoCAD LT.
Starting with version
v.1.7, DemandLoad for Arx applications is implemented in compatible
mode and works fine ! All previous compatibility problems were solved.
Special
application-defined entities (those entities that sometimes are shown as
proxies) will be ignored by the "Object Properties Manager" in most
cases.- this seems to be related to the Demand-Load-Feature not working
properly. Like described above, manually/automatically loading the
apropriate Arx application may solve the problem.
After installation you will find an extra folder
".\Acad-Simulation" with some tools and their documentation;
this allows to simulate particular AutoCAD version(s) to be installed,
so most installers will accept this simulation and will continue to
install.
